Proud to announce this awesome new partnership between @googlenewslab and @poynter to support fact checkers. https://t.co/K8VauOT5kl
— Erica Anderson (@EricaAmerica) October 26, 2017
“With so much information available around the clock and across devices, being able to understand at a glance what’s true and what’s false online is increasingly important,” Anderson said in a statement.
She said Google will work with the IFCN in three ways: increase the number of fact-checkers by holding “global fact-check workshops” and offering stipends for new fact-checking organizations; expanding the IFCN Code of Principles into new regions; and providing fact-checking tools to the IFCN community at no charge.
The code of principles requires news agencies to obey five commitments to ensure news agencies remain honest, transparent and nonpartisan. There are 36 signatories to the Code of Principles, including the left-leaning Washington Post Fact Checker and other fact-checking organizations from around the world.
Alexios Mantzarlis, the director of the IFCN at Poynter released a statement, saying the 12-month partnership will “enable the IFCN to encourage more fact-checking around the world, while also helping raise the standards and impact of existing initiatives."
The Poynter Institute for Media Studies is openly funded by Soros’ Open Society Foundations. Soros, a veteran billionaire vulture capitalist, supported former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton during the 2016 presidential election.
Soros was recently criticised for transferring nearly $18 billion to his Open Society Foundations, making it the second largest charity in the US after the Bill and Melinda Gates’ Foundation. The charity has been accused of inciting so-called “color revolutions” to install governments friendly to the US.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said through a statement that certain Soros funded organizations “defame the Jewish state and seek to deny it the right to defend itself.”
Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban also accused Soros of using his money to fund liberal NGOs influencing the European Union to accept asylum seekers in order to create a "new, mixed, Muslimized Europe.”
The Poynter Institute also receives funding from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, the National Endowment for Democracy and the Omidyar Network, which is the nonprofit for liberal billionaire and eBay founder, Pierre Omidyar.
The Google-Poynter partnership was announced days before executives from Google, Facebook and Twitter are scheduled to testify before the Senate and House Intelligence Committees on alleged Russian meddling in the 2016 presidential election.

Facebook, which has come under scrutiny for their part in spreading false news stories during the election, has also partnered with the Poynter Institute to launch its “disputed” news tag on stories deemed false by fact-checking organisations working with the social media giant.
Stories flagged by Facebook users as ‘fake news’ are passed on to these fact- checkers for verification. If the fact-checkers agree that the story is misleading, it will appear in news feeds with a "disputed" tag, along with a link to a corresponding article explaining why it might be false.
Google News Lab previously partnered with The Poynter Institute to introduce a “Fact Check tag” that labels news articles the company determines might contain fact-checks in order to “help readers find fact-checking in large news stories.”

I just don't get the self-righteous arrogance of these people who 'claim to know what the truth is'.
George Soros certainly doesn't and Google's search engines now are the antithesis of useful, relevant results.
These two actors are driven entirely by profit and are thus entirely inappropriate to arbitrate on truth.
where is the article on the Lake Mead draining, tunnel? I just saw it last night! I thought I sent it to twitter, but can't find it now.
duckduckgo is now involved in censoring search results. from what i've heard, Brave is one of the most private, non censored search engine available here in the us.
Wow! How informative, this generation of brainwashed morons is the start of extinction.
Hi. I’m from Poland (central Europe). Just yesterday I read an article on unprecedented teperatures in November here in Poland where I live. A new record high was set this year for November temperatures – 26 ºC (79 ºF). It was published on a popular Polish main stream news website. After reading some of the comments left below the article, in wchich people overwhelmingly expressed extreamly positive, to say the least, attitude towards high temperatures in November, I decided to leave my comment on that issue. So I wrote a comment explaining to folks that nowadays weather is merely a result of geoengineering operations (I used that term specifically – in Polish of course), which have been under way for past 70 years and for about ten years in full swing, and which have been carried out by most co called civilized countries (USA, Russia, China, Great Britain, Germany and so on). I mentioned solar radiation management (SRM), wchich visibly takes place here in Poland (I can observe trails in my neighbourhood quite frequently), and I pointed to California as a guinea pig for geoengineers. I also mentioned geoengineeringwatch.org as a website to go to in order to get some credible information on that issue. I sent my comment and waited, and waited ……. and waited. To my surprise my comment hasn’t been posted in comment section in reasonable time (i.e. half an hour). It was suspicious to me, so I decided to leave another comment in favour of high temperatures in November. To my shock it was posted by moderator after just a few minutes. It’s worth mentioning that my first comment has never been posted. I checked it after about 7 hours. Then the article in question was removed from the website.
What should I make of it? Is it possible that there’s a ban on term ‘geoengineering’ used in negative context in main stream news outlets? Even here in Poland? As far as I know the owner of the news website in question is not affiliated with google company. If this is really the case then who pulls the strings?
Thank you for your great work Dane.
Greetings from Poland.
Jacob
I had attempted to log on to Geoengineering Watch.Org through Google and got a message from google stating “website forbidden”. I used another browser and got here anyway to send some information to Geoengineering. Since then Google quit blocking the site at least from me.
Has anyone asked President Trump why he hasn't stopped the dumping of hazardous waste over the United States. The long term negative effects most certainly outweigh any short term benefit. Pernicious Biological contaminants are also being dumped all over America. This is world wide too and is absolutely part of the global depopulation plan which is also known as " Agenda 21 ". Check out what is written on the "Georgia Guide Stones ".
Startpage.com is also supposed to be a Private search engine which keeps your IP address unknown, it is worth checking out.
I started using StartPage a couple years ago and refuse to use any google search engine. Not too long ago though Startpage had the following on the search enging page where you ask you question, etc,. and it said: "Startpage now powered or enhanced by Google". So now who knows if startpage has been compromised by Google. NEW INFO: I just checked Startpage and the referance to Google is not there anymore.
To Frank Zappa's comment:
If you are seeing relevant ads then it is now powered by Google. I currently use Duck Duck Go. If you have concerns about StartPage then switching over to Duck Duck Go is a good next place to go. Since using them I have no adverts and they specifically exist to help us avoid being Google's AI fodder. Hope that helps.
HI;
I use other search engines such as DuckDuckGo, Dogpile, Yandex, TOR, and epicsearch.in
I have dropped "just google it" from my venacular, and encourage friends and family to do the same.
Have you seen this article.

We all need to respond to this lie.

Start using http://www.duckduckgo.com I stopped using google a long time ago, since I found this search engine.
Thank you geoengineering watch for publishing this article.
The fact that Google has partnered with a George Soros charitable foundation should be a worry for anybody using this search engine for unbiased research purposes.
I suggest going to an open sourced search engine such as Firefox if you want to find newsworthy material that the establishment would rather you do not find.
Kind regards,
Tim.
@tim
are you sure about firefox?
